Brenda devoted her life to teaching, her Catholic faith, and the children entrusted to her care.

A native of Paynesville, Minnesota, Brenda graduated from Paynesville High School and Bemidji State University before beginning a teaching career that would span more than two decades. She taught at Holy Family Catholic School in Silver Lake, All Saints Catholic School in Madison Lake, St. Michael’s Lakeside School in Duluth, and finally St. Philip Catholic School in Litchfield.

At St. Philip, Brenda found the place that became the center of her professional life. For ten years she taught kindergarten, welcoming a new group of children into school each fall and helping them begin their lives as students in a community grounded in learning and faith.

Brenda believed deeply in Catholic education and wanted more children to have the opportunity to experience it. The Brenda Torborg St. Philip Scholarship Fund was created according to those wishes. Through it, Brenda’s love of teaching and her commitment to the youngest students at St. Philip will continue for generations to come.
